WestEd conducted a randomized controlled trial on the use of Tales2go in a San Francisco Bay area school district. The study was designed to determine the effect of adding a listening component to literacy instruction. Results of the study were noteworthy, indicating Tales2go is an effective and promising literacy tool. Students using Tales2go achieved 58% of their annual expected reading gain in just 10 weeks, putting them 3 months ahead of their control counterparts.

Before joining Atomic Learning, Mr. Amos worked as the Central US Education Regional Manager for Apple Computer. Prior to joining Edison, Richard was one of the founding staff members of Teach For America. He earned a BA in American History from Harvard University, and is an Aspen Institute-New Schools Fellow. He currently sits on the board of directors of The Broad Center for the Management of School Systems, General Assembly, and ROADS Network Charter Schools, and is President of the KIPP Foundation Board of Directors. Barth was named a 2014 Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneur of the Year and Harvard University’s Chief Marshal for 2014 Commencement ceremonies.

Scott Fogarty is Chairman of PlanetHS, a K-12 social media company. Previously, Scott served as CEO of Films Media Group, the largest library of educational video in North America, where he led a transformational business turnaround. He was also founding president of Software on Demand, distributing software electronically via satellite, and Zuma ed, a digital content provider for K-12 instructors. Earlier in his career, he worked in corporate development at Primedia, Inc. and sales management in broadcast television. Scott earned an MBA from Columbia and an AB from Harvard College.

Rachael Worthington Walker consults on a wide variety of educational programs and multimedia projects with a special focus on children’s literacy. She has more than twenty years of experience in developing key partnerships with nonprofit organizations, corporations and public agencies to benefit at-risk children and families. She has conceptualized innovative programs, launched national campaigns, coordinated special events and developed original content for projects involving film, television, web, and print for the National Education Association, the Afterschool Alliance, Reading Is Fundamental, HarperCollins Children’s Books, PBS, Reach Out and Read, and WETA’s Learning Media initiatives (Reading Rockets, Colorin Colorado and AdLit.org).

A national educational consultant, Julie M. Wood, Ed.D. served as a faculty member and former Director of the Jeanne Chall Reading Lab at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Recently she directed a comprehensive school reform effort for young children, called “Three to Third,” at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, in partnership with the Mayor’s Office and Boston Public Schools.

Dr. Wood began her career as a public school teacher and reading specialist. She has also served as a university lecturer, an editor/developer in educational publishing, and a consultant on media-based products for teachers and students.
